Sitting in my home office on the West Branch of the Narraguagus River, I am filled with joy. Yes, it helps that I can hear the wind in early summer's verdant maple, birch, and poplar leaves. It also sure doesn't hurt that I can see the lazy tannin-stained water of the river rolling by, twinkling in the morning sunlight. Yes, all this certainly sweetens my mood, but there is something rather MOSy that has me beaming on this fine morning...
Here are some loose pieces for you: 40, 90, 15,353. Any idea how these numbers fit together? For the past 40 days, we have been actively raising money though our IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign for the launch of our Inreach/Outreach (I/O) program. During this time, we saw 90 individual donations from family, friends, community members, and strangers who all rallied to fund MOS's Fall launch. These 90 donations totaled a whopping $15,353--a sufficient cash infusion into I/O to give us a safety net through the Fall so that MOS can be financially stable both before programs start and between the programs we schedule. Meanwhile, we will still be able to work on curriculum design and program planning in addition to basic logistics, such as getting insurance and legal counsel.
We want to send a huge thanks to each and every one of you that shared our campaign via social media, told a friend or family member about it, or personally chipped in. Without you, this campaign would not have been as successful as it was. So again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Remember, under the seeming tranquility of this lazy little bend of the West Branch of the Narraguagus River, there are countless organisms each doing their part to create a dynamic and thriving ecosystem. Within our own human social system, each and every one of us plays a part in creating dynamic and thriving communities. Each of you played a huge part in launching MOS. Thank you.
